Lauryn Hill Interviews in Paris

Email this article Print this article Send us a tip

After a Paris show, Lauryn talks to Ya Kid K's sister about her anxieties, albums and Clef.

Lauryn Hill recently sat down with TV Maniacs after a show in France to discuss her anxiety, her album and the state of the Fugees. When asked why she hasn't yet recorded her follow-up to The Miseducation, she explained, "There's a lot that can force an individual to compromise, and it doesn't make sense for me to make music if I can't make something that has a purpose. "I think the Fugees had the impact it did because we really believed in what we were doing at the time, and we... knew there was something genuine," Ms. Hill explains. "For me, making music is a labor of love." While she doesn't address the question too directly (though the interviewer then reveals herself as the sister of Technotronic's Ya Kid K), Hill goes on to dispute the rumors that she's recorded an album for an '08 release, and discusses the current state of hip-hop: "I see a lot of lost potential." "for me to experience the high it has to be something so connected" by Lauryn Hill...
I have always been a fan of Lauryn Hill. She's absolutely brilliant., and she's honest. You see it's easy to get caught up in the glamour of hollywood. But Lauryn always tells it like it is, and I love that about her!!!!
(Thanks vibe:)

Ms. Hill-- Thank you for helping me to see that sanctification and consecration is a priviledge and an honor. I realize that the purity of a "controlled environment" that u spoke of in your interview is also an offering to God , a much needed process for an artist in order to purify the dross from silver and become a vessel for truth to speak thru. Thank you 4 blessing the world with your gifts. Thank you for singing from your soul and caring about the "human heart condition " enough 2 sacrifice & take up your "priesthood". Much love.

I love Lauryn. There is something about the entertainment that seems to break women like her -- rare, beautiful, sensitive, artistic and so talented. You saw this type of break-down happen with Mariah, Mary, Brandy, Britney, Lindsey and so many other talented artists. I pray for Lauryn. It hurts to see her overweight and looking so bad, so pained. I miss her voice and I miss her shining light. God Bless her. I will continue to follow her journey. May we all lift her up.

The Sister is deep and I wish she had the platform that so many of the current so called "Hot Artists" have ... the current state of Hip Hop is absolutely degrading to all of mankind. I pray for the day we RETURN to music that empowers and take us higher, as opposed to this ghetto kill, sex, women are objects trash we currently have to endure.

Man, pick up the Word ya'll. Those of you who think that Lauryn is crazy, delusional, etc. are products of the very society which she has been called to enlighten. They called Jesus along with many prophets, disciples, apostles, etc. crazy.

Those who are "called" know the voice of the Father when we hear Him, regardless of what the vessel looks like.

Lauryn, continue to press through and know that you are a legend. Not for what the public thinks and what the industry says, but for who God has made you.

He knew you before you were born and set you apart. (Jeremiah 1:5)

Love you for doing what so many others lack the courage to do.

If you really listen to what Lauryn is saying in respects to the past and present situation for black artists, and artists in general in the music industry, you would see that she's still a conscious and deep sista. As far as her present style and looks, and her reported strange behavior at concerts is concerned, maybe she is going through changes personally and professionally. We as her fans and caring people in general should wish her well and pray she find her way back.

God bless you Lauryn. I'm not here to judge you, I only wish you and your family happiness whatever that is for you. I'll still remember what a gifted artist you are.

No one has mercy for Fallen Angels, Lauryn gave us hope and joy, now that she has fallen we all laugh. The truth is we get a kick out of seeing Public Stars and Officials fail, fall, and die trying, even when we are the one's who uplifted them. Hip Hop is Dead. Peace

What can I say? She is not the same, she looks out of it, but then I am not a shrink. God bless her.

Fame corrupts! I don't think we, as humans, are equipped to be exaulted by the masses. Look at how many hollywood types fall apart after they become famous... Downey, Anna Nicole, Lohan, Spears, Houston, Jackson, the list goes on. We build them up, it's too much for them to bare, so they tear themselves down.

Has no one noticed that Lauryn Hill is not completely herself, her appearance, her anxiety, clearly something has gone completely wrong and no one is helping this poor girl, acting as if she is okay
