If those fossilized relics we call “albums” have been replaced by the live show, then the leaders of the new school ought to be gospel artists, who get a chance to practice their chops every Sunday. The boss of this genre is Tye Tribbett, a young, beanpole-looking belter who dances orgasmically and grins like a madman. But unlike his stylistic predecessor Kirk Franklin, Tribbett hasn’t gotten much shine around pop land. StandOUT, his third album for a major label—and his second live effort—offers strong evidence for why he’s failed to hit the stratosphere. Like so many live zealots, Tribbett struggles to translate his rapturous stage presence beyond the congregation.
On the title track, Tribbett and his choir, Greater Anointing, begin with a holy order: “It’s time for you to choose whose side you’re going to be on /...all we have to do is stand /…Rise up!” But even with the Anointing, Tribbett can’t transcend. Take “Let Us Worship”: It’s big, bombastic—and boring. There’s clatter, but no impact. And “I Made It Through” fails to merge the old with the new: Tambourines, a schizo brass free-for-all, and an ecstatic organ blare as the choir squeals, “He’s so faithful!” And yes, He is…if only we could feel Him.

I feel that the gospel music has gone to a new level. These days are about change. If you want receive a breakthough you got to prasie God. No matter if it's jumping or running around, clapping or etc. Tye Tribbett as well as these other gosepl artist are showing diffrent ways of how to gloryfiy the most high. It shouldn't be about how many records you sell or what you got, it should be about praising God. As long as you praise him and represent Christ right; God will take care of the rest.
Keep praising God Tye and G.A.!!! :-)

Please Let Me Explain. God Is higher than the stratoshere and no other is higher than our Saviour, No records, no money, no fame, or your earthly glory. I have know Tye since 96' and He & G.A. haven't change.from doing Ministry, even if it was held in a small park or to thousands of people in a arena. He seeks to bring the lost closer to christ. Jesus would do the rest and tye will be bless from his efforts for doing his will.I was in the rehersals for the concert in va.that was held in my church. And this Work has been blessfrom the start and until its finish in GODS will. DO NOT HURT by writing things that you havent YET experience the power of our LORD. This ministry will continue to Flourish in Gods eye not yours.tyrone-ANTIOCH.

And one more thing....
GOSPEL music isnt designed or intented to sale millions or reach the stratosphere. Its only purpose is to Glorying GOD and save SOULS. By putting GOD first, people are being healed and set free. God takes care of his children, when we do what we are suppose to do.
What is the purpose of RAP??? Please tell me...Im so sick of hearing HIP HOP is dead.
When was it ever alive??? Hip Hop is a idol and God said worship no other god, but GOD.
Im threw!

All I have to say is that this album is wonderful. Its is full of power an truth.
The reason why Gospel artists are critized and not welcomed is because "they are not of this world". We belong to the Kingdom of God, oppose to the Kingdom of Darkness.
Rap and R&B is praised, only because of it glorifies the sinful part of man, and we all know that sin is running rampid through this world.
But this too shall cease and every knee must BOW. So if I were you, I would get in line or prepare to face a wrath that you wont be able to "Stand" up against!
I gotcha TYE. Your album has please "OUR FATHER!!"

Linda Hobbs...... Uh where do I start? I'll start by saying these type of opinions you have of Tye is just the reason why he is so needed in the Gospel Industry. The bible say's there is a such thing as Righteous Judgment so here it go's.. Other Gospel Artist like some of the one's you spoke of who parade around the stage with 3 or four buttons on their shirt unbuttoned showing they just bought a weight bench sporting so much bling bling you see them more than the Spirit!
The reason why so many people like myself are staying indi is because the industry has seen that Gospel Music can now generate alot of $ that now their trying their best to produce a new line of "GOSPEL STARS" with no Anointing! I respect Kirk but lets be honest he remakes worldly song's into Gospel songs compromising and not trusting in his God given talent to reach the massess. Tye and G.A. are original and work hard to be so.
I've had the privilege to meet Tye and try his spirit as the bible say's to and to also hear him preach the word, no concert just church and almost immediately you know He is in this to represent the Kingdom Of God and stand apart from the rest. There are only a few Gospel Ministers or artist I can put into my cd player and feel the Anointing and off the top of my head those are Tye, Donnie mcclerkin and Fred Hammond.. I'm sure there are more but I'm talking music that had an anointing that broke strongholds in my life music! And I'll end it on that note........

I must say that I totally agree with "visionista!"
Tye's style may not appeal to you, HOWEVER,it is IMPOSSIBLE to deny the anointing on this project...of course that's IF God is present in your life.
This article is the ONLY review I've read that doesn't speak highly of the lyrical content, creativity, and originality of this project.
I believe it's safe to say that "STANDOUT" is intended to please God and serve the purpose that He designed Tye Tribbett & G.A to fulfill before the foundation of the world. Who cares about "reaching the stratosphere" as long as lives are changed bcause of the anointing?!

4.5 out of 5 stars--avg. rating of 109 reviews on iTunes.
4.5 out of 5 stars--avg. rating on Amazon.com
#16--highest position on Billboard 200 only seven weeks after release.
#1 or #2--the only positions held on the Billboard Gospel Charts for seven weeks
Um, it looks like SOMEBODY is feeling Him.
StandOUT is one of the most innovative and anointed gospel albums to be released in years, and clearly there are hundreds of thousands of listeners around the country who feel the same way as I do.
Perhaps Tye Tribbett and GA haven't gotten as much shine as Kirk Franklin--simply because they have two different ministries. StandOUT has an uncompromising message--which does not seek to gain the attention of "pop land", VIBE, or even Ms. Hobbs. Standing out is not about conforming. It's all about changing lives and making sure that GOD gets the glory!!!
While I absolutely love VIBE and thoroughly enjoy this site and the magazine, this review seems awfully biased towards the reviewer's own perspective on God and spirituality. Like every other review on this website, judge this album on the musicality, the variety, and the raw talent of the artist.
***So to those that read this review--take a listen for yourself. You'll be pleasantly surprised.... :)
