Beyonce: from VIBE's June 2007 cover story.
We know the gossip's been flying in the blogosphere. There was a "petition" created to force Beyonce to reshoot the video for "Deja Vu." One site declares Beyonce "Most Annoying of '06," noting that the star has been promoting Dreamgirls since "Jesus was in middle school." Another blogger relentlessly and unsympathetically breaks down Beyonce's every single physical trait, from scalp to manicure. Controversial gossip maven Perez Hilton continues to bait her, as he has for the past year, calling her "that Wicked B."
But whatever. Yawn. Beyonce is unfazed. Meet her in person, and she's as relaxed as a girl can be, on a short break from the business of world domination. Even with just lip gloss and false lashes, she's a study in beauty, ruling the room without even trying. And her conversation flows freely, too. There are the expected hiccups - she still won't talk about Jay-Z, and she only discusses Jennifer Hudson (with whom she shared the spotlight and credit in last year's Dreamgirls) in circular fashion. If Beyonce was dark skin like her father I wonder if she would still be up in the limelight. Kelly was obviously the better looking one out of Destiny's Child with her perfect modelling figure. I am glad Jennifer Hudson won the oscar for her acting in Dreamgirls as she had a better voice. Beyonce can sing but she will never be in the same category as Mariah Carey or Whitney Houston......and that's a fact!! Alicia Keys and Rihanna are both much better looking than Beyonce!

I do think Beyonce is a beautiful girl. I admire her ambitions. But, I would have to say she may as well add porn to her resume. There are a great deal of teens whom admire and look up to her. Some stars say they don't try to be role models but they need to be aware that it happens. It is true that sex sales. Tell her to start wearing baggy clothing, loose the weave and makeup, and see if only her voice can carry her. Seems a great deal of people are challenging her and I think she should accept the challenge. Dare to be the country girl you are. I really feel like she is getting such bad press because people are burned out with her. Take a break girl, we need it.

I love Beyonce's music first of all, she is fierce at what she does. My only concern is that she is supposed to be so classy, yet all I ever see her do is shake her butt. I think that nowadays women believe that's what they must do to make it. Beyonce has ALOT of influence. I see so many women trying to pattern themselves after her. I think if she is going to have that much influence, she should use it to help our young women get their integrity back. With much power comes much responsibility. I admired her for so many years because it just seemed liked she had it together, but now we are watching her unravel right before our eyes. Seems like she can see the rising of other hungry young actresses, dancers, and singers and she is afraid of being upstaged. I felt like she didn't handle herself too well with Jennifer Hudson. Alot of it is the media but if you notice, Beyonce is doing things now that she would have never thought of doing before. She is trying to make sure that she stays the center of attention. Be careful cause attention can be good and bad *ouch*...I could really tell she was losing it when she appeared on the red carpet at the Oscars and she used it as her opportunity to do a photo shoot. Like I said, the old Beyonce would have known better. Now she's stripping? Success is a powerful thing. I pray that it doesn't defeat her.
