Kitty Kelley To Write Bio of Oprah

Reuters announced that Kelley has signed a deal with Crown Publishing, a subsidiary of Random House, to write about Oprah’s life. No details on the text have been made available, but Kelley says she has always been “fascinated” by Winfrey. "As a woman, she has wielded an unprecedented amount of influence over the American culture and psyche,” Kelley said. “There has been no other person in the 20th century whose convictions and values have impacted the American public in such a significant way." Some would argue that Kelley herself has impacted the media in a significant way. Considered a pioneer of the unauthorized biography, Kelley's books have dished dirt on figures like John F. Kennedy, Nancy Reagan, Frank Sinatra and the Bush family. The Family: The Real Story of the Bush Dynasty, her profile of the family of two presidents, famously charged that George W. Bush once snorted cocaine at Camp David, a claim that was vigorously disputed by both the President and his former sister-in-law, who Kelley claimed was her source for that piece of information.
