VIBE: Some have said you were with Pimp right before he died.
TOO SHORT: Nah. Like Saturday, I did a show at House of Blues in L.A. He came out onstage. Came backstage, you know.
Was he in a weird mood, a sad mood, anything?
He was in an extra good mood. We spoke on Sunday. I was still in L.A. We talked about gettin' up, you know, later. He was going to the Mac Store. He was excited about it. You know how everybody always gets excited about a damn Mac Store. We never did hook back up, though. He wasn't with me on Sunday, or Monday. Pimp C was my boy. We go back to the early '90s.
What has the world lost with Pimp C's death?
If you think about pioneers who impacted rap... like I did in Oakland, like Biggie did in New York, [Pimp] did that to the whole South. The rest of the world didn't get to know that, to understand that. People didn't properly get into UGK until 2000's "Big Pimpin'." They was doin' stuff way before that. That's why Jay went to get them. Jay keeps an open mind. Not like I only listen to this or that because it's from where I'm from.
Pimp C was one of your closest friends, one of your best friends?
Definitely. Had he not gone to prison... We would have been rollin' that whole time. Look in the video - I was in "Big Pimpin'." Jay hadn't called me for that. I was there with Pimp!

I first heard UGK on one of Master P's albums called Mean Green and the song was called " Tossed up". Pimp ripped the first verse and I was like damn! I'm from Chi-town so I did'nt know too much about them. I got all they stuff now and I'm UGK for life. Rest in Peace Sweet Jones!

Pimp is to Texas is what Jigga is to N.Y. he was one of Texas Finest pioneers and a member of UGk who had hits like "Front Back""Pocket Full of Stones, Chop Blades, "Big Pimpin", "Take it Off". Just to name a few. He is indeed what a real Mc /Producer is suppose to be. He was humble kind, down to earth. Pimp C was the Third Coast King. His talent is one in a million. He is now up there in heaven with the King Of Kings. His family and Bun B and Trill Ent, and Jive have my sincere condolences and sypmathy. We should never take life for granted. In the words of UGk "One day your here the next day your gone". But not so soon. He will defintely , truly be missed. In the words of Pimp C " the raps that we make are rap country tunes". Buy you some !!! Texas born, Texas made, Texas bread.
