Executive will continue to report to Diddy.

In the past he was seen as the behind-the-scenes guy who would show his face from time to time for lazy pep talks on MTV’s "Making the Band 2." But now, Harve Pierre, Diddy’s capo bastone, has been appointed the new president of Bad Boy Records.

Pierre joined the label in 1993 as an intern. Most recently, he worked as the executive vice president, general manager, and vice president of A&R. Pierre has also tried his hands at making beats, where he is also known as a successful music producer as well as songwriter, and video director. Some of Pierre’s most successful music videos include the Notorious B.I.G.’s “Dead Wrong” and “Flava In Ya Ear” by Craig Mack. He formerly worked as an editor on several Hype Williams videos as well.

Harve’s new responsibilities will be overseeing finance, marketing and promotions, A&R, and sales for the label.

"Harve's promotion to President is well deserved,” Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, who met Harve while the two attended Howard University, said in a statement. “He has been with Bad Boy since the beginning and has worked hard to learn all aspects of the business. He has always been an important part of the A&R process and it is only fitting that Bad Boy would house his imprint, Crazy Joint. I look forward to Harve's continued success."
