Rapper no longer faces criminal charges for allegedly hitting Jimmy Henchman’s son

Tony Yayo has been cleared on all criminals charges stemming from a 2007 incident where he allegedly backhanded Jimmy “Henchman” Rosemond’s 14-year-old son, his lawyer says today.

“As I told you from the beginning, Tony Yayo did not hit anyone and would never do anything to harm a child,” Yayo’s attorney, Scott Leemon, said in a statement.

Last March, Yayo, real name Marvin Bernard, was accused of hopping out of an SUV and slapping the son of Henchman, who was on his way to his father’s company, CZAR Entertainment, for an internship. Supposedly Yayo noticed the child had on a CZART-shirt, and pushed him up against a wall before asking his age and backhanding him and yelling, “I don't give a fuck how old this kid is, fuck Czar Entertainment."

50 Cent was accused of being with Yayo at the time of the incident, but 50 later denied being in New York when the incident occurred. In April, 50’s lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, announced that 50 was launching his own investigation to find out what happened that day.

The confrontation gained considerable publicity, leading to a press conference and rally outside Universal Records, where angry protestors stomped on G-Unit CDs. Rally attendants included the Rev. Al Sharpton and actor Michael K. Williams.

“I hope the media reports the dismissal of the criminal charges as prominently as the false allegation was reported,” Leemon said, adding that that the hip hop police buried vital information regarding the incident. In the past,Leemon stated that G-Unit member Lowell “Lodi Mack” Fletcher admitted earlier this year to hitting Rosemond’s son, not Yayo.

“This fact was confirmed by Mr. Fletcher when he told members of the notorious hip hop police in August that he did this on his own,” Leemon said. “The hip hop police buried this helpful information and the charges against Tony Yayo proceeded until today . . .In sum, all that Tony Yayo admitted to doing was getting out of the car and glaring at the victim. Once he realized what Fletcher was doing, he went and grabbed Fletcher to pull him away from the victim.”
