If this was true, [G-Unit Records would] know first

50 Cent has reportedly been in talks with Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation for a $300 million deal with MySpace Records. But according to a source from G-Unit Records, the dream-deal isn’t quite true.

“If this was true, we’d know first,” the anonymous source, who works closely to the rapper, told VIBE.com.

News of the deal, allegedly set to take effect in 2009, hit the Internet Wednesday morning. Gossip site Mediatakeout reported the rapper signing a 10-year deal that will give News Corp. control over the 50 Cent brand. They outlined the “preliminary set of terms of the proposed deal” that included G-Unit’s label being moved under MySpace Records, the rapper’s website ThisIs50.com being obtained and ran by News Corp., and the rapper receiving his own production studio for film and television projects.

News of the deal also appeared on Thisis50.com, but according to the G-Unit Records source, the news was reported after Mediatakeout.com’s story because it was news related to 50.

“We don’t discriminate against news,” the source says.

If true, 50’s deal will eclipse Jay-Z’s April Live Nation deal, that included a start-up label, music publishing, talent consulting and management company…. for a grand total of $150 million.

“[Live Nation] allows the artist to consolidate some of their business ventures, have them have a sole supporter. Those deals tie in a lot of different things, away from the actual touring,” 50 told VIBE.com last month about Jay-Z’s partnership with the California-based concert promotion company. “Jay-Z’s a free agent, and after Before I Self-Destruct, I’ll be a free agent.”

50 Cent, real name Curtis Jackson, is still on location filming “Streets of Blood” co-starring Sharon Stone and Val Kilmer, and could not be reached for comment.

Calls to Interscope have not been returned.
