We're in the studio, we're planning on being out there next year

The Jackson 5 are currently recording, and planning a reunion for 2009, Jermaine Jackson said Wednesday at a media function in Sydney.

Jackson went on to reveal that his sister Janet, will be opening their shows.

"It is just the timing, so what we've been doing is working on the music and all the logistics,” he told the Australian Associated Press. “It is going to be more like a family affair, Janet's going to open and, of course, the original Jackson 5 ... Michael, Randy and the whole family ... We're in the studio, we're planning on being out there next year… This has been a long time coming for the Jackson family to get back together."

When the AP asked Jermaine where his brother Michael was, he quipped, "I don't know. I think he's in Egypt riding a camel or something."

The Jacksons are known for the hit songs “ABC,” “I’ll Be There” and “I Want You Back.” The group became prominent in the late 60s and lead singer Michael, broke off into a solo career in the 70s. The group dissolved in the 80s.
