A private memorial will be held for Jennifer Hudson’s slain mother, brother, and nephew, on Monday in Chicago.
The service will be held at the Apostolic Church of God. Today, the family will decide whether or not to hold a public service.
Both Hudson’s mother, Darnell Donerson, and brother, Jason Hudson, were found shot to death in Donerson’s South Side Chicago home last week Friday. The body of Hudson’s 7-year-old nephew, Jason King, was found the following Monday. He was shot in the head.
Hudson identified the bodies of all three. A spokesperson for Hudson said she "remained strong for her family," while ID’ing her relatives. "It was very clear that she was the leader. She held hands with her family. It was obviously a very emotional moment."
Hudson and her sister Julia (the mother of Jason King) have since started the Hudson-King Foundation For Families of Slain Victims. The foundation will focus on honoring their murdered family members by caring for other families who have suffered violence, by providing food, clothes, shelter, and grief counseling.
Donations for the Hudson-King Foundation can be sent to:
