Ross: “I never owed a nigga an explanation”

I done been up and I done been down and that's what make me who I am.

After many denials, reported cover-ups, and wisecracks, rapper Rick Ross has finally come clean and admitted that, yes, he was a former Florida Correctional Officer.

In a new issue of Don Diva, Ross— who has vehemently denied being an officer, going so far as to claim to Allhiphop.com that “online hackers” put his face on somebody else’s body— says that he never lied about his past.

“I never tried to hide my past!” he told the magazine. “I put my name inside all my CDs. My company has my SS number. I could've put a company name...I done been up and I done been down and that's what make me who I am.”

Ross, real name William Leonard Roberts, was first discovered to have been a former correctional officer after some investigative work done by The Smoking Gun. In July Gun reported that Ross, who mainly raps about his drug-dealing past, was a correctional officer for 18-months. He was given the prison guard gig in 1995, earning $22,913 a year.

“I never ratted on a nigga!” Ross told Diva. “I never prosecuted a nigga! I never locked up a nigga that is first and foremost. I always felt that me being the nigga I am, I never owed a nigga an explanation. When I'm making my music and I'm talking about blow, it's because I did it. When I say that I'm rich off of cocaine, it's because I did it. Those are the street principles that apply."

I am caught up in that bullshit yo. These guys aint rappin, they're actin. They're not keepin it real. And that shit sure as hell aint good. If he really did all that bullshit then why is he using a real O.G.'s name huh. Why dont he just go by william roberts-bigtime hustler huh? Cuz william roberts is phony. The meaning behind that name to me is a real G doin real time for real things and this faggot makin money off it. That shit aint rap to me. Listen to some real shit like some pimp or some pac and then listen to these new foolz and then come talk to me hippy.

What is this dude talking about? First of all it does not matter who or where the rapper gets his name from; what matters is the meaning behind the name. Secondly, Rick Ross dont owe anyone shit but a good song to listen to. What ignorant people dont understand is the fact that everyone living has to pay bills, whether you have a job, sell drugs or both. Also, NOT EVERY RAPPER SOLD DRUGS, wake up. We rap about the struggle and grind whatever it may be. Lastly niggas need to stop glorifying that shit, cause alot of my niggas got caught up in that bullshit and got killed or sent to jail. Tighten up yo, read a little more youll catch up!!!!!

First he comes out jacking names and stories of real O.G.'s, and now this cover up. "I never owed a nigga an explanation." Unreal. Rick Ross singlehandedly killed rap.
