Popular food chain got beef with gangsta rap

This is a sleazy and ill-conceived publicity stunt by Taco Bell's president, Greg Creed, whose disingenuous offer was leaked to the press before it was even presented to 50 Cent's agent

50 Cent’s recent $4 million lawsuit against Taco Bell has now gotten personal.

The food chain has recently gotten on the wrong side of the rapper after they decided to promote their value menu by having 50 Cent change his name to “79, 89, or 99 Cent.” Taco Bell promised to donate $10,000 to a charity of 50’s choice but asked him to do them one more favor: come to one of their locations and rap his order at the drive-thru. Apparently, 50 didn’t see the joke. He has since filed a trademark infringement lawsuit this past summer.

"This is a sleazy and ill-conceived publicity stunt by Taco Bell's president, Greg Creed, whose disingenuous offer was leaked to the press before it was even presented to 50 Cent's agent," a rep for the rapper said.

According to TMZ, Taco Bell is now clapping back with their real feelings about the rapper. In legal documents, Taco Bell says that 50 only filed the lawsuit to "burnish his gangsta rapper persona" and his work "falls in the subgenre of hip hop music known as 'gangsta rap,' a style associated with urban street gangs and characterized by violent, tough-talking braggadocio."

50 Cent’s lawyer has since responded, saying simply, "Taco Bell needs to be stopped… Mr. Cent intends to vigorously pursue this case."
